Little Blessings

I know it has been awhile since I posted anything. This week has just been a little to much to handle, so I needed to take some me time...reading magazines, hot chocolate, and beauty sleep. Then I was able to find my inspiration again. I like to think of it as a new start...

While antique shopping I found this angel statue that I would love to put in a garden someday. It is actually a holy water font. In the catholic church it is meant to be at your door to protect you from evil and is symbolic of their sacraments. I just thought it would make beautiful pictures...

I also made a few white flower and beaded headbands for special occasions such as weddings or baptisms.

Halloween Hair Accessories

Buttons

I am back from my trip to Utah. I went to my older brother's wedding and of course went flower shopping! My husband pointed out to me that it was a sign I had to go to Hobby Lobby!

Today I will be bringing in a couple new headbands...they are each one of a kind. They are made with real antique buttons. I recently got a large tin of unique buttons that belonged to my Grandmother Jewel. It was later that I realized they had actually belonged to my Great-Grandmother because of the variety of  real vintage buttons.

My Great-Grandmother Daisy owned her own dress shop during the great depression called The Froc and Bonnet.

 The buttons were kept in a tin can that had roses on it. It is a candy tin for Mrs. Stevens Chicago chocolates. When I looked up this company I found out a little more.

"Mrs. Steven's Candies proved a very popular item in Chicago for several generations. Her three-pound box that sold for a dollar made it possible during the Depression for people with marginal incomes to purchase a quality box of chocolates. Her candy eventually sold through 22 retail stores and 800 outlets across the country."

Grandma told stories of when her father would go on business trips and bring her back presents. I can only imagine he brought back chocolates for his wife Daisy!

Feather Flowers

I have been saving these for a while, but since I will be going flower shopping next weekend I thought I could bring these in on Tuesday. I know I have made something pretty when I make a big mess! Here's a few pictures of what Tuesday will bring!

I was just in the store today and I consolidated my two areas to one! I have all my pieces next to the window on the left. I also went ahead and marked everything down so I could have more room for new peices!

Fall

Just starting on some new ideas for this week. I saw these orange feathers and made some very Autumn headbands and clips! Last week I found a fancy umbrella that inspired me to make a lacy flower. I had to make more than one because I didn't want to sell it, it is one of my favorites!

Monday

Hey Everyone, Today I brought in some smaller vintage clips for only $4! They were really fun to make and almost hard to part with when I dropped them off! Also, I have even made some tiny butterfly clips for babies with only a little hair available at the store. Sorry this picture is a little blurry from my phone...still trying to find my real camera!

Butterflies

This week I have been working on some real cute ideas. I went shopping with my husband and found the sweetest glitter butterflies, beads, and new felt for the backings.  It's been a little busy around here with school staring and I'm sure you all know what I mean! I plan on having new headbands in on Tuesday. Tomorrow I think I will go into the store and rearrange my areas so you can all see my pretties easier. I have a spot on the left bookcase by the checkout and a sunny window spot also on your left when you first walk in. Hope all of you are having an easy transition into the new semester and if your not in school...you are so lucky!
